WayAnad
Connectivity
Here are the detailed accessibility options for Wayanad:
1. By Air (Nearest Airports)
Wayanad can be reached via three main airports, depending on which part of the district you are visiting:
Calicut International Airport (CCJ): Located about 90–100 km away. This is the most common entry point for those heading to South or Central Wayanad (Kalpetta, Vythiri, Sulthan Bathery). The drive takes roughly 2.5 to 3 hours.
Kannur International Airport (CNN): Located about 70–95 km away. This is the best option if you are staying in North Wayanad (Mananthavady, Thirunelli). It offers a smoother, less congested arrival experience compared to Calicut.
Mysore Airport (MYQ): Located approximately 130 km away. While it has fewer flights (mostly domestic from Bangalore/Chennai/Hyderabad), it is a viable entry point for those coming from the Karnataka side.
2. By Rail (Nearest Railway Stations)
Since there is no railhead in the hills, travelers must deboard at the base and take a scenic uphill drive:
Kozhikode (Calicut) Railway Station (CLT): The primary rail link, about 85–110 km from Wayanad. It is extremely well-connected to major Indian cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Kochi.
Kannur Railway Station (CAN): About 115 km away. Convenient for travelers coming from North India or Mangalore who are heading toward the Mananthavady region.
Mysuru Junction (MYS): About 130–140 km away. This is a popular choice for travelers from Bangalore or those looking to combine a trip to Mysore with Wayanad.
3. By Road (The Most Popular Mode)
Road travel is the soul of a Wayanad trip, featuring some of the most scenic mountain passes in India.
From Calicut: You will travel via the Thamarassery Churam (NH 766). This stretch is famous for its 9 hairpin bends, offering breathtaking views of the valley below.
From Mysore/Bangalore: You typically enter via Gundlupet, passing through the Bandipur National Park or Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary.
Note: There is a night traffic ban (9:00 PM to 6:00 AM) through the forest stretches on NH 766 to protect wildlife.
From Kannur/Thalassery: Access is usually through the Nedumpoil Ghat or Periya Ghat, which are lush and less crowded.

Location of TGG Farm
The TGG Farm is strategically located in a region that perfectly balances remote natural beauty with proximity to significant cultural landmarks and urban conveniences. Its setting amidst diverse cultivations like tea, coffee, and pepper highlights the agricultural richness that defines Wayanad.
Proximity to Major Attractions
The farm’s location is highly significant due to its closeness to one of Kerala’s most important historical sites:
Edakkal Caves (3.5kms): Edakkal Caves, a UNESCO approved world heritage site, offer a fascinating blend of natural beauty and ancient history. These caves are world-renowned for their Neolithic petroglyphs, offering visitors a rare glimpse into prehistoric human life while providing stunning views of the surrounding hills. The proximity allows guests at the farm to easily access the caves for early morning treks, avoiding the midday crowds.
Nearby Urban Convenience: Despite its serene plantation setting, the farm remains well-connected to essential facilities. Ambalavayal is the nearest town, located approximately 4 km away. It serves as a vital hub for visitors, providing access to markets, local eateries, and medical facilities. The town is also home to the Regional Agricultural Research Station and a famous heritage museum, adding another layer of interest for those staying nearby.
MarziaVerified This is a piece of heaven, not an airbnb. I loved every single day of my stay here. Laiju and Namitha have been wonderful hosts to me and Elizabeth, the fabulous person who looked after the farm, cooked delicious food for me. I was able to fully rest as well as exploring the beautiful surroundings by walking. The warmth of people in the villages and neighbourhood is unexplainable with words. I cannot recommend this enough. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart! YashVerified Mr. Laiju & team allowed for a concoction of nature and homeliness unforgettable for me in my time of inner discovery, which I am deeply grateful for… 🧘♂️ NeerajVerified This has two of my most favourote things come together:1. Nature - 6 acres of adundant nature just for you. Breathing the air and let the birds fly by your side are pleasures you can never get bored of.2. Food - Biba's home made Malyali food is heavenly. Never had such delicious, authentic local food. And to top it the philosophy with which Mr. Laiju ]has set this up - real sustainability amidst the greed of capitalism. He was gracious enough to inivte me at his house for the wonderful dinner and we had such diverse and immersive talks over the days I spent there. The facilities are essential so go there not for the luxury but for the experience you will have. IsabellaVerified Staying at TGG was a highlight of our 2 month adventure travelling India. Laiju is an inspiring person who welcomed us into the foundation which we were eager to learn about. The farm is peaceful and beautiful but more than that, it has a soul that will leave you wanting to return as soon as possible (or staying a lot longer than planned, if able to). Laiju organised wonderful activities which are unlike the touristy excursions you will have done elsewhere. Instead, they were focused on community and skill sharing, creating a unique atmosphere which we loved being a part of. The staff are great and the food was INCREDIBLE. We cannot recommend this place enough. We can’t wait to visit again and hope a lot of our friends and family will also get the opportunity to spend time at The Green Gardens Farm GalenVerified My girlfriend and I stayed at Laiju’s place for our trip in wayanad and it was one of our best experiences together. The place is far from the busy streets and is instead located in nature. This allows a lot of opportunity to disconnect and live much more simply. The hosts were super caring and helpful always responding to any questions or concerns that we had. The nature surrounding the airbnb is very lush providing many things to do and see. The airbnb also provided a food option of three meals a day and each of them were extremely fresh and delicious. I highly recommend Laiju’s place to someone looking for a raw and beautiful experience in some of the best nature India has to offer. MadhuriVerified Our stay at Green garden’s farm was great. Such a peaceful, serene accommodation. The room was clean and comfortable. Food is so homely and delicious. Laiju is extremely helpful and helped us with other recommendations in Wayanad as well. Special thanks to Namita and Laiju, for inviting us for lunch, it was delicious! We will definitely go back :) SushmitaVerified The Green Gardens farm is a quaint little place that's just ideal for a short break from the city. Its clean and organised and ideal for long walks along the tea gardens in and around the farm. Biba, the caretaker is lovely and her food is simple, homely but wonderfully cooked. I went there for a solo trip and I got exactly what I was looking for. I never felt unsafe there. Mr Laiju and his wife are extremely warm and welcoming people and they took care of every little detail. ShivaniVerified We really loved staying at Laiju's farm and by the hospitality he and his wife has offered. This place is must to stay place for someone who wants to hide from crowd and get a piece. SarahVerified Wonderful stay at the Green Gardens farm. I stayed here solo and enjoyed the privacy and space to connect with nature. I felt safe.Host Laiju and his wife I cannot thank enough especially for helping me with transport and arranging some activities. My advice would be to stay for at least 4 days ( more, weeks if you can) to connect with the place and relax. It is worth travelling to, but please ask Laiju on best way to get there as I took a awful sleeper bus that was quite traumatic! There are much better ways to get tho the farm.Someone local cooked food for me three times a day which was wonderful and is also a great thing to do. It is a place to relax and unwind and take walks. Highly recommended.Bring books if you are in to them. And get up early 7 or even earlier, it’s a good time to sit outside. SrinivasVerified The farmstay was perfect for those looking to be alone with nature and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The surrounding area was calm and serene, providing a much-needed break from the noise and chaos of everyday life. One of the highlights of our stay was the excellent Kerala style food served at the farmstay. Despite the rustic setting, the accommodations were simple but comfortable. The room was clean and cozy, and it also featured a great verandah, which was perfect for enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings. Laiju ji was very friendly and welcoming, and he made sure that we had everything needed to make our stay comfortable.Overall, I would highly recommend this Airbnb farmstay to anyone looking for a peaceful, nature-filled escape. The food, atmosphere, and accommodations were all outstanding, and I can't wait to return for another stay.
